It’s finally time to brush off taboos about battles with depression and anxiety, and reach out for help, says actress Megha Sharma. Megha, who has been part of shows like Pandya Stores, Baal Krishna and Mahakali—Anth Hi Aarambh Hai, says that mental health should be discussed and help should be given to those who need it.

“Mental health is definitely an important topic today. Many people struggle with it, and it's great that we're talking about it more. I don’t think we’re exaggerating; instead, we’re finally acknowledging issues that have been hidden for too long. It's important to support each other and create a safe space for discussions about mental health,” she says.

Ask her how she takes care of her mental health, and she says, “To take care of my mental health, I make sure to spend time with myself, take myself on a solo date . I have a word with self because I believe self talk is very important. Talking and sharing moments with family and friends helps me feel better. I also enjoy activities like yoga and meditation, which help calm my mind and keep me centred.”

She adds, “The two things I do to boost my mood are I enjoy listening to my favourite songs. Music has a magical way of changing my mood and giving me energy when I need it. And taking myself on a solo date is something that just cheers me up. It’s very important to enjoy your own company before you start to spend time with someone else.”

However, she loves spending time with her loved ones too. “I would say I’m more of an ambivalent person . I love sharing my life with people I vibe with, whom I am comfortable with and enjoy their company. Being around such people gives me energy and makes me happy. I believe that sharing experiences strengthens our bonds.”

The pace of life is very fast and we are over indulging and multitasking most of the time. This can impact our mental health, she says, adding, “Life is indeed very fast-paced, and we often try to do too many things at once. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed and less focused. It’s important to slow down and prioritize what truly matters. Taking small breaks can help us regain our focus and clarity.”

In today's episode, Sailee reminds Paresh to eat on time and take his medication before heading out for her meeting. She delivers an impressive presentation and successfully lands the contract. Meanwhile, Renuka meets Aakash and urges him to return home with Ria. On her way back from the meeting, Sailee sees Sachin washing cars and is deeply hurt by the sight of his humiliation. To make matters worse, she overhears a car owner accusing Sachin of stealing a mobile phone from the vehicle.

In tomorrow's episode, All society members are blaming Sachin for missing phone, Owner gets his phone from his tennis club. Sachin make them realize that he's poor but not a thief, Sailee gets emotional and goes to financer to get Sachin’s car back, but financer doesn't listen and insults her. Food containers left open by Renuka and lizard slips and fall into curry. Paresh takes food and before he could eat Sachin comes and notices dead lizard in food he took in plate, he immediately stops Paresh from eating. Sachin shows lizard to Sailee and starts blaming even Renuka tells Sailee wants to kill everyone in the house.

Megha Sharma, who has been part of shows like Baal Krishna and Mahakali—Anth Hi Aarambh Hai, is all set to celebrate Navratri, and says if her work schedule permits, she will even keep fasts during the first and last day.

She said, “During Navratri, we light a diya and keep it burning continuously for all nine days. We perform a lot of pujas during these nine days. I think Navratri brings a lot of strength and motivation. There’s a certain energy during this time that makes you feel like you can overcome anything. There's a strong spiritual aspect to Navratri.”

“Usually, the Navratri festivities happen in the evening, so I can sometimes take out one or two days to celebrate traditionally. If I’m free, I like to observe fasting on the first and last days, but if I’m busy shooting, then I don’t fast. There was a time when I used to fast for all nine days, but now it depends on my work schedule,” she added.

Megha shared that Navratri is celebrated as Goddess Durga defeated the demon Mahishasura on the ninth day, and then we celebrate Dussehra. She said, “The festival symbolizes that evil has no power in front of God, and good always triumphs over evil.”

“In terms of my professional journey, if I reflect on it, the simple message is that no matter what difficulties or challenges come your way, if you stay focused and keep doing the right things, good things will eventually come to you. Even if people are being negative or trying to pull you down, if you are on the right path, success will find you,” she ended.

Tulsi Dham Ke Laddu Gopal actress Monika Singh, is excited to celebrate Navratri this year. She, however, mentioned that while earlier she would fast and perform the various rituals on Navratri, due to health issues she is unable to perform them now.

She said, “The essence of Navratri, celebrating the victory of good over evil—remains in my heart. Even if I’m not doing much at home, I still feel that positive energy and a special vibe during these days.”

“Navratri used to be such a special time for me, and it still is in many ways. Earlier, I used to cherish it so much—I would fast, attend Garba nights, decorate my house with lights and flowers, and just immerse myself in all the festivities. But now, since I'm living with my younger sibling and because of some health issues, I'm unable to fast or keep up with all the rituals,” she added.

Monika also stressed that she doesn’t put a Kalash during the festival now due to her busy work schedule.

“For example, just like when we bring Ganpati home, if you keep a Kalash, you have to take care of it properly with devotion. But because of work, I can’t manage all that anymore. Still, I feel connected to the divine energy during this time through prayers,” Monika ended.

Rajat Verma, who plays Jay in Ravindra Gautam and Raghuvir Shekhawat’s Dahej Daasi, which is produced under their banner Do Dooni 4 Films, feels the outer appearance or the look of a character is very important for an actor. He believes it helps them build a connection with the audience.

He said, “The appearance of a character plays a very important role in character building and helps the actor get into the skin of the character. When an actor is given the right clothes and makeup, it makes it easier for them to deliver a strong performance.”

“For the audience, the appearance of a character is also crucial because, when they start watching a show, they first notice how the characters look. The audience doesn't yet know the story or the drama that will unfold, so they try to guess the setting of the show, like whether it's based in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, or somewhere else, just by looking at the characters' appearance. This helps the audience believe and connect with the story more easily,” he added.

He, however, mentioned that the audience has started accepting a more natural appearance rather than a glamorous looking one. He said, “For example, if a hero came out of a bomb blast, their hair would still be perfectly styled. But now, things have changed, and the appearance can be adjusted to look more natural.”

“The more natural the appearance, the more relatable it becomes for the audience, making it easier for them to believe in the story. So, a character’s appearance is very important for both the actor and the audience,” he added.

An actor's job goes beyond bringing a character to life, and Rajat shared that on an individual level, he contributes to it through dedication and hard work. “Whether it’s about the outer appearance or getting into the internal mindset of the character, I always try to match the mood of the scene. For example, if there is a scene where my character has to argue with someone, I try to stay in that mood to feel the intensity of the situation. Sometimes, I distance myself from the person I’m going to argue with in the scene to get into the right mindset,” he said.

“On the other hand, if it's a romantic scene, I spend more time with the other person to build that connection. I also work on the physical appearance of the character. If the role demands certain physical traits, like muscles or a particular body type, I put in the effort to achieve that because it's my body, and I am the one playing the character. So, whatever changes are needed for the role, whether in appearance or internally, I have to work hard to make it happen,” he added.

She said, “For me, fashion is all about feeling confident in yourself by wearing the perfect outfit for the right event. It’s about dressing appropriately for the occasion and place, not just putting on anything without thought. Your outfit should make sense based on the event, whether it’s day or night, and according to the location. That’s what fashion means to me.”

“I’ve always been very particular about my style since I was young. You could say I’ve been conscious of my outfits from as early as second or third grade. I was so particular about my clothes even back then, and I always wanted to wear what I liked. It might sound funny, but my mom would buy clothes based on my choices because I insisted on wearing what I thought looked good. Even as a child, I always had my own say in my outfits,” she added.

But she doesn’t believe in changing her wardrobe often. She said, “I get bored of my clothes very quickly, but I don't like to get rid of them, especially the ones I love. I just put them away for a few months so I can bring them out again later. I don't like to wear the same clothes too often.”

Megha has always had an inclination towards polka dots and wants to see it make a comeback. She added, “They look really nice, especially on dresses.”

But she mentioned that she is not someone who follows fashion trends very frequently. “I just love to wear what I feel like wearing, based on my day and my mood. When I wake up in the morning, it’s all about how I feel. I don’t plan my outfits in advance. I do follow trends, but not just for the sake of following them,” she said.

“If something is trending, I don’t feel the need to go out and buy it right away. I wear what suits my mood. If I’m happy, I’ll dress in a way that reflects that, but if I’m not feeling great, I might go for something more casual—even if I’m going to a nice place. For me, it’s really all about how I feel,” she added.

Megha loves everything about fashion and enjoys being fashionable, pairing her outfits, whether it’s jeans or dresses. “Since childhood, there was no one who really inspired me in fashion. My mom is from an army background, so she didn’t have a lot of extra clothes. Most of my life, I saw her in uniform. So, my love for fashion didn’t come from her; it came from within,” she said.

“I’ve always loved dressing up and playing dress-up games. I used to stitch clothes for my baby dolls and create fusion outfits for them using different fabrics and sequins. I think, in a way, I inspired myself when it comes to fashion,” she ended.

Actor Kanwar Dhillon, who plays the lead role of Sachin Deshmukh in Rahul Tewary and Rolling Tales Production’s Udne Ki Aasha, recently bagged the title of the Best Mazedar Sadasya award for Udne Ki Aasha.

He says that such recognition always helps in keeping him motivated. “It's a great feeling to receive such special recognition on a prestigious platform like Star Parivaar, which I've literally grown up watching and been a part of over the years. However, I had never won an award for Star Parivaar. During Pandya Store, I was really looking forward to it, but it didn’t happen due to the post-COVID phase when everyone was stabilizing financially, and Star didn’t host the Star Parivaar Awards. Instead, we had Ravivaar with Star Parivaar,” he says.

He adds, “By the time the Star Parivaar Awards returned, the show had already taken a leap, so I missed out on being a part of it. The last time I participated in the Star Parivaar Awards was during Ek Astha Aisi Bhee in 2017, if I’m not wrong. After seven years, I finally got to perform, be actively involved, and even win an award, so it feels amazing. It feels like life has come full circle because Star Parivaar is also one of the first awards shows I attended with my dad, long before I had even started acting properly. To win my first televised award on this platform is a memory for life and a perfect 'first' for me.”

Talking about being part of the show, he says, “I’m really glad that a show like Udne Ki Aasha and a character like Sachin Deshmukh, which is quite rare on television, have been accepted with open arms. The show is doing well, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how popular and relatable Sachin is with people wherever I go. At Star Parivaar, the audience’s reaction blew me away—it made me feel truly grateful that I could connect so well with this character. Playing Sachin has been an incredible journey. I’m enjoying exploring his many layers—he's a regular guy, notorious, an angry young man with strong values, and also has comic elements. There's nothing particularly challenging about playing him; I'm just being myself. Receiving the Best Mazedar Sadasya award is extra special because it recognizes my versatility and the way I stood out with my performance. This category, in particular, means a lot to me.” Working with Rahul Tewary and Rolling Tales Production has been a treat, he says. “Working with Rahul Sir and Rolling Tales Productions has been one of the finest and best experiences of my career. I've told Rahul Sir many times that the production house feels like family. Sharing his journey, he says that all his shows are special to him. “Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to be part of many good shows, starting with Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, followed by Hum Hain Na, Ek Astha Aisi Bhee, Piya Rangrez, and, more recently, Pandya Store, which was one of the most beloved shows of its time. Despite the age difference, she truly loves him and makes sure he leaves his wife and kids for her. She is a strong woman who wants what she wants and goes to any extent to get it. Her drive and ambition are qualities I share, but apart from that, there is a vast difference between our personalities. The things Ishika does and says to hurt the people around her are not something I would do.”

She also adds, “It’s been 11 months on this show now, and I’ve had a great time! We have all become like a big family, and honestly, we look forward to scenes where we’re all present. It’s just so much fun and positivity around us at all times.” When asked if she feels any monotony as an actor in a daily show, she says, “I think I’ve reached a phase in my life where I crave monotony. I love waking up every morning and going to work. KMTMG has always provided the audience with relevant stories. Our show has dealt with issues like domestic violence, POCSO, and divorce stigma—topics that very few shows address. Our storyline is never stretched longer than it should be. When asked about the challenges she has faced in the show, Deekshha says, “I must admit that shaping the character initially was a challenge. I knew Ishika was a grey character, but I didn’t want to make her the typical daily soap villain. I wanted to give her a layer of niceness too, as whatever she does is justified in her mind, so there had to be more to her. I love that I get to explore so many aspects with this character. I am also a fashion and makeup enthusiast, and I am lucky that my Creative Director and Costume Designer trust every little experiment I do. He adds that they both are inspired by each other. “I feel the relationship between television and society is complex and interdependent, with each influencing the other in a continuous cycle of reflection and shaping. I think it’s a two way street. Daily soaps resonate with real life in several ways, for example reflecting our culture, customs, traditional values , portraying social issues like relationship family conflict, influencing our moral values by characters' struggle and consequences. Daily soap can influence individual perspectives,” he says.

Ask him how his show is influencing people, and he says, “Our show was showing the rich culture of Banaras and a progressive girl who cleared every obstacle to win in the end . Inspiring everyone to overcome the hurdles what they may face to achieve the desired goal.”

He adds, “Our show stands apart in many ways . Actor Kapil Nirmal, who is known for TV shows like Raja ki Aayegi Baraat, Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera, Baal Shiv as well as the film Vedaa, says that TV does not reflect society in anyway. He adds that what is shown on TV is a highly dramatized version of reality.

“I don't think television reflects societal norms or vice versa. Daily soap's purpose is to cater to a part of society, which sometimes identifies with the stories told. “Nutrition plays a vital role in overall health and well being. For me, a well-balanced diet is necessary for a healthier and happy life. Proper nutrition provides for necessary fuel required for growth repair and recovery. I stay on a high protein diet and calculate calories to maintain my proper physique . Sugar and salt intake is very controlled. I usually eat 3..4 meals. Proper workout and adequate rest. Being disciplined and consistent is the key to stay top in the game,” he says, adding, “Well not till now .but I think it’s essential to prioritise your health and well being if I have to go under changes for a role it will be well planned and with patience and consistency.”

However, he is very strict when it comes to staying fit, be it workout or diet. “Sometimes it's not easy to get time to workout . And I cannot survive if I don’t workout so I try to take out whatever time I get to hit the gym and I am very strict about my diet . So I carry my diet. These small struggles add up over time and lead to big results,” he says.

Meanwhile, he says that not just public figures, everyone should be promoting healthy living. “It’s everybody's responsibility, not just actors or influencers. Healthy living and nutrition go hand in hand. Their changes can be numerous and transformative. For example physical changes, mental and emotional changes, health related changes. She said, “I love celebrating festivals to the fullest—whether it's at home, on set, or even within the storyline. I'm someone who feels very fascinated by Indian culture. All our festivals are so beautifully thoughtful, and every aspect has a deep meaning, connecting us socially, psychologically, scientifically, and biologically to the time of year.”

“For example, what we eat, the sweets we make, the rituals we follow—all have a scientific or cultural significance. Each ritual is carefully woven together, keeping all these aspects in mind, and that always fascinates me.I love understanding each festival from that perspective and actively participating in them. It's especially wonderful when this celebration extends to the television set, where we get to celebrate with our extended family, the unit, and the audience who will see it. That makes it all the more special,” she added.

She is really excited to find out what they will be doing on set this year for Ganesh Chaturthi. “I'm sure it'll be special because the production house is very traditional. Whether it's a Muhurat Puja or even the smallest rituals, they make you realize the importance of these traditions, and I really appreciate that about them. So, I'm really looking forward to it,” she said.

Sukhada also shared that the best way to take time off during a festival is to plan ahead. “For me, my in-laws live in Nashik, and that's where our Ganpati celebrations take place for ten days. So, my husband Abhijeet and I, who live in Mumbai, always decide to go there. This has been our routine for the past 11 years of our marriage, and not once have we missed it. We always reach Nashik the day before Ganesh Chaturthi,” she said.

Revealing how she manages her family and work life during the festival, she said, “I observe the Hartalika fast, which I do along with my mother-in-law. We all together, do all the preparations —decorations, arrangements—everything, and then the next day, Lord Ganesha is welcomed and worshiped. That day is full of activities with friends, family, and even media friends, and the day just flies by without us realizing it.”

“From the next day onward, Abhijeet and I resume our work and shoots. This has been a ritual for the past 11 years, and I think it’s only possible if you plan it well in advance. Inform your production house beforehand so they can also plan accordingly. I’m very against last-minute notices; even if I’m unwell, I make sure not to inconvenience anyone by informing them at the last minute. So, I had already informed everyone in advance about this. I’m really looking forward to going home,” she added.

Talking about the storyline of the show, she said, “Around this time, I'm not sure if there will be any changes to the show's storyline. Our show is currently at a very crucial point, where the fundamental family dynamics are on the verge of changing significantly. So, the focus right now is on that,” she said.

“To be politically correct, I can't reveal what's happening in the story, but you can trust me when I say that what's unfolding is very important. At this time, I'm unable to disclose anything specific about the upcoming events, but I can say that the current track is extremely significant. I just hope that by the time we reach the actual festival, this important track will be resolved, and we might be able to celebrate. But honestly, I'm not sure right now,” she concluded.

We keep Bappa at the set and participate in all the festivities, and it's a time filled with positive energy and a great vibe. It brings the entire cast and crew closer, almost like a family celebrating together,” he said.

For him, portraying festive scenes on the show is truly special, as it feels like an extension of real-life celebrations. “Being able to perform rituals and celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi on-screen brings a deeper connection to the festival. It’s almost like we’re celebrating it twice—once in our personal lives and again on set, which makes the festival even more meaningful for us. The emotions, the joy, the devotion—it all feels very real, and it enhances our bond with the festival and with each other,” she said.

He shared that they do follow certain traditions on the set and said, “Every year, we bring in Ganpati with much enthusiasm, and there’s a small pooja ceremony where everyone on set participates. It's a beautiful moment where the entire team comes together in prayer.”

“We also have a tradition of sharing sweets and prasad after the aarti. The cast and crew often gather to sing bhajans and celebrate the spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi together. It’s a time when everyone forgets the pressures of shooting and just enjoys the festival with a full heart,” he added.

Anuj shared that though taking time off during the festival can be challenging, they manage by planning ahead. “The production team is very considerate of the festival and tries to accommodate as much as possible. We prioritize the shoots, especially the festive segments, so that everyone gets a chance to participate without missing out on the celebrations,” he said.

“It actually brings us all closer because we’re not just working; we’re celebrating together. These moments make us feel more connected, not just to the festival but also to each other,” he added.

He also revealed that managing everything, from shopping to cooking and bringing Ganpati home while shooting, gives a sense of accomplishment. “It feels great to be able to balance both work and personal life, especially during such a joyous time. There’s a lot of running around, but it’s worth it when you see everything come together—the decorations, the food, and of course, Ganpati Bappa at home. It makes all the effort worthwhile,” he said.

What are your plans for this year? “This year, we’re not bringing home Ganpati this time but we’ll surely visit some of my friend's places for Ganpati but on set we’re gearing up for some special scenes that will bring out the essence of Ganesh Chaturthi. It’s going to be busy, but in the best possible way. Celebrating with both my on-screen family and my real family is what I’m most excited about,” he ended.

I think viewers are now connecting with various aspects of my character, not just Sachin Deshmukh. It’s gratifying to have my work recognized, and I’m thrilled to receive such great opportunities. I believe I did a good job because everyone was happy with the outcome. I sincerely hope to host more events in the future and, perhaps, even anchor a proper non-fiction show. I would be more than happy to take on that challenge.”

Janmashtami has always been a significant festival for him. “My thoughts on Janmashtami are closely tied to my childhood and growing-up years. In my locality, we used to prepare extensively for the dahi handi. I initially tried to participate in the human pyramid, but after a few falls, I stopped. However, I always cheered for my friends, and once the handi was broken, everyone would break into a celebratory dance and enjoy a good afternoon or evening. Janmashtami brings a lot of positivity and joy to those who celebrate it, and I think it’s a fantastic festival. This joy is also reflected in the Janmashtami celebration event we shot for Star Plus. It’s all about fun while staying true to the festival’s theme, and that’s what makes it so special,” he says.

I do my own makeup for almost everything: Charul Malik

Charul Malik, who is currently seen in Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!, says though she prefers doing her own makeup, on the sets of her show she lets the makeup person do it, as she utilises that time in going through the script.
“I do my own makeup for almost everything, including events and red carpets. 99.9% of the time, I handle my own makeup. However, when I'm on the set of the show, my makeup artist does my makeup,” she said. “I prefer this because I can use that time to read the script, which we receive just before the shoot, and we have to quickly go over our scenes. So, I don't do my makeup on set, but otherwise, I prefer doing it myself every day. It takes me about fifteen to twenty minutes, max,” she added.
She also shared some dos and don'ts of doing makeup and said, “When you're going to late-night events or evening outings, where there will be a lot of lights, keep your makeup light. During the day, your makeup should look natural and not overdone. Use light eyeshadows during the day to maintain a natural look.” “At night, you can use kohl pencils, blingy, shiny, glossy stuff, but not during the day. Try to keep your colors pink and subtle during the day, and you can use loud and bright colors at night, experimenting with whatever you want,” she added. Kapil Nirmal Reflects on His Journey from TV Stardom to His Hindi Film Debut in ‘Vedaa’

Actor Kapil Nirmal has spent 18 long years on television. His first Hindi film - Nikhil Advani’s Vedaa - which also stars John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh – released recently to a lot of fanfare. Kapil is seen as API Bhimsen Purohit in the film and has got some intense action scenes with John Abraham.

Talking about his casting in the film, Kapil says, ”I got the role after a lengthy process which included auditions, selections, screen tests, action sequences, appearance evaluations, and a mock shoot.” Why was the wait for his first film so long? Kapil explains, ”It takes time. First, you work on yourself and understand your craft. Then, you make yourself financially stable so that you can survive. After that, you start thinking about moving forward because you’ve become too comfortable in one place. I’m speaking from my own experience. Television offers a lot of comfort -good money, fame... I was content in that space, which kept me connected to it. But eventually, I felt the need for a change. So I started trying, meeting people and finding out. The surprising thing is that while experience in television is valuable, people may greet you with respect, but you still have to face challenges and start from scratch in films. The biggest issue is that you don’t even get auditions. The first hurdle is securing an audition. After that, everything else follows. Auditions are crucial because the fewer you get, the fewer chances you have of being selected. And that’s why it took so much time."

Sharing about his character in Vedaa, the well-built Kapil says, ”My character has an ideology—he wants to be successful in life. The explanation given to me about this character was - to succeed in a particular field, you need to be surrounded by certain kinds of people—a godfather so to speak. The guy he works for is a powerful man, and that’s his reason. The second aspect was preparing for the role. There wasn’t anything specific for preparation; what I did was read the script many times. The more you read, the more you connect with your character. Every time you read each line, you discover something new. Staying calm helps this process. Then, when you go on set and put on the specific costume, the character starts to take over. Reading scripts as much as I could really helped me embody the role." The film has been directed by Nikhil Advani who has been famous for films like Kal Ho Na Ho, D-Day and Salaam-E-Ishq. Kapil shares his working equation with the director. ”I think he has an amazing personality. When I first met him, I was surprised to see him right in front of me. I had heard about him. I tried to anticipate what he would be like and when I met him I was pleasantly shocked. He was smiling, which eased my nervousness, and when I greeted him, he expressed his excitement about working together. On set, the experience was fantastic. Things don’t always go as you expect, but he is always on top of everything. He takes great care of his actors and I felt very well looked after. Even during breaks, he notices small details. It might not always be visible, but he pays close attention and keeps the environment comfortable. He operates in his own zone but ensures everyone’s comfort. After each scene, he checks in to see how you felt about it. That’s been my experience, and I was happy shooting with him."

Kapil who has some heavy action sequences with John Abraham in the film also shares his take on the equation. He says, ”There wasn’t anything specifically discussed about fitness. The focus was more on going on set, greeting the seniors, working well, and then leaving. That’s the reality. Yes, I’ve had conversations with him, but they weren’t about fitness. He shared his experiences—both good and bad—very openly. He’s very sweet and approachable. Whenever he speaks, whether it’s about something small or significant, he does so without hesitation. He openly shares his thoughts about the industry and isn’t concerned about the consequences of his words. He’s very confident. He appreciates your work and motivates you. I remember one instance when we were shooting in a temple. I was sitting

about 10-15 feet away, greeted him, and then sat down. He later called out, 'Kapil, you did an amazing job in that scene man!' It’s these small things that really make my day."

New Delhi, August 17, 2024: In a landmark ruling, the Delhi High Court has issued a John Doe order to safeguard the intellectual property rights of the iconic and most popular Indian sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Neela Film Productions Private Limited, the show's producer, successfully argued that the title, format, characters, characterisations, mannerisms, dialogues, and other unique elements of the show are protected under intellectual property law.

The Court's decision comes after Neela Film Productions brought to light the widespread infringement of their rights on various online platforms. The plaintiff identified numerous social media accounts, websites, and YouTube channels that have been illegally using the show's characters, producing animations, AI-generated images, deepfakes, and even pornographic content featuring the beloved characters. Additionally, certain platforms were found to be selling unauthorised merchandise under the guise of the show.

In granting the ex parte ad interim injunction, Justice Mini Pushkarna recognised the gravity of the situation, stating that Neela Film Productions had established a prima facie case for the injunction. The Court's order not only restrains known infringers but also extends to John Doe (unknown) defendants who are involved in the illegal activities mentioned.

Mr. Asit Kumar Modi, the well known producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, expressed his relief at the Court's decision, stating, "This show has been a labor of love for everyone involved, and it's disheartening to see our hard work being exploited in such a manner. We are grateful to the Delhi High Court for recognising the importance of protecting our intellectual property. This order sends a strong message that such infringements will not be tolerated. As the creator of this show, I have always believed in the power of storytelling and the impact it can have on people's lives. This order not only protects our creative efforts but also boosts the morale of everyone involved in the making of the show. It reassures us that our creativity will be respected and safeguarded, allowing us to continue bringing joy to our audience without fear of exploitation.”

Mr. Modi further added that, “We've put in significant effort to expand the TMKOC IP into animation, gaming, and merchandise. This Delhi High Court ruling safeguards our rights, bolstering our confidence to push our creative boundaries even further.”

It takes a long time for me to describe myself because you evolve one day at a time and change constantly. There are different sides of me. I can really be invisible in a crowd if I decide to or stand out in it, depending on my mood. Also, no one actually sees me the same, because I'm different with different people. That is validation too, the only thing is it should be healthy and not selfish.” Meanwhile, the actress says that she has always tried to step out of her comfort zone. “Staying in one's comfort zone makes one stagnant, and stagnancy for any kind of creativity is toxic. She adds, “I used to and still have a fear of heights, once a director of mine, Late Wasim Sabir, got to know about it and he made sure that I face this fear, he made it a point to make me do scenes which were at a height... The key is that they are someone you can rely on. Having best friends in your life is essential because it frees your mind from burdens and helps you avoid feelings of depression and frustration. On set, I've had best friends with whom I've shared a strong bond and good understanding. For example, Shweta Rastogi and I became good friends while working together. We shared our makeup room and talked about everything, from work to personal life. Even after the show ended, we stayed in touch, and though we don't meet daily, we're connected through phone calls and social media. Sometimes we make time to catch up despite our busy schedules.”

Friendship Day is over, but actress Sonal Panwar, who plays Malaika in Binaiferr and Sanjay Kohli’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, which is produced under their banner Edit II, doesn’t feel that one day is enough to celebrate friendship. She feels friends are the people with whom we get to choose ourselves, and they become our family.

She said, “Friendship is very important for me, and I don’t think one day is enough to celebrate it. I really believe that you choose your people and your friends around. Otherwise, you wouldn't have any such choices in life. You can't choose your mother, father, or family, but friends are the people that you choose. So I think it's very important because they become your extended family in a way.”

“When you are staying away from your family in a city like Mumbai, I think friends can really be a really nice support system for you because it takes a lot to be in the city and then friendship. I definitely think if there are good people around and good friendships, then it becomes very easy to be honest. They are just like your support system,” she added.

Her best friend is Aarti Sharma, who is also an actor. She said, “I just love her. I admire her in every way. She's beautiful; she's pure of heart, and she's always there for me. You know that feeling that somebody is just there, no matter what, good or bad; she's just there. She's just a call away. And right now I'm also missing her because she's in Delhi and I'm in Mumbai. It's been a long time since she's been there. Otherwise, it used to be a thing that we always used to meet for coffee by the end of the day.”

“I used to come from my set; she used to come from her work. And then we used to sit and gossip, and so it was like a ritual. Ritual. So I definitely miss her. But that doesn't make it. That doesn't make it sound bad. Actually. I think it's only contributing to the deeper bonds that we have,” she added.

Sonal believes that you really don't need to maintain friendships. “I think pure relations, or I think a genuine relationship, doesn't actually need much effort. Friendships, though, I think definitely not. Yes, yes. You just have to be there. You have to make sure that you are there in good or bad times. But I think it's very effortless when it comes to genuine friendships because you don't really think about that,” she said.

“You're just there, always. So I don't think it takes a lot to maintain that, because then you are just trying very hard to be there. But no, I think it's effortless for me. Generally, friendships are very effortless,” she added.

Her friends on the set were Sanjay Choudhary and Ashna Kishore, who are no longer part of the show. She said, “We used to share a lot of things. Ashna is a very good friend to me. She's not a part of the show right now, but she is a very good friend to me and always will be a good friend to me. And then, in that manner, I share a good bond with everybody on the set. If you are fighting, that can definitely affect the environment. But I think if you have a good bond, it's just for the better. And thankfully, we do a comedy show where everything is so beautifully managed and organized, actually, so it really doesn't affect us.”

How has friendship contributed to your personal and professional growth? “I think friendships have definitely contributed a lot to personal and professional growth. It definitely does it. As I told you, staying in a city like Mumbai is very tough if you have no friends. So definitely, you learn a lot from your friends. I learned a lot from my friend. I am somebody who reacts immediately to things, but my friend is not. She's very, very calm and very possessed in that manner. So she's like, she takes time to react to everything, and she is amazing at handling failures. And everything. And then I learned from her. I learned a lot from her also,” she said.

“One more thing. I think she's that person who likes to get ready for everything, and she just loves herself. She's her own favorite. So I think there is a lot to learn from your friends. And thankfully, I have many friends who belong to the same field and many friends who belong to other fields also. So I think it definitely does contribute a lot because you learn a lot from the people around you. And if you talk about friendships, then I am sure that the circle you live in definitely leaves an impact on your personal life,” she ended.

This National Book Lovers Day on August 9, actor Saanand Verma traces his love for reading to his childhood days. The actor says that growing up, he always had a book to read in his bag.

“I am very fond of reading books. In my childhood, I was a bookseller, starting at the age of eight. My father was a small-time book publisher, and we had a small bookshop in Patna. Instead of attending school, I sold books and read them while selling. This experience is very close to my heart. I have spent a significant amount of money building my personal library, though I often find little time to read. I always carry a book in my bag, trying to find moments to read while shooting. I also have a background in journalism, where I read and wrote extensively. I wrote three detective novels when I was just 13 or 14 years old. Books have always been an integral part of my life, something that runs in my family. My father was a literary writer from Bihar, with dozens of published works to his credit. This passion for literature is in my blood,” he says.

Talking about a personal favourite, he says, “I've read a book by Robin Sharma titled The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. I've read it multiple times because it's incredibly inspiring and motivational. I'm a huge fan of Robin Sharma.” Ask him if he thinks the book reading culture is dying because of the internet as people are busy reading on social media platforms and browsing YouTube, and he says, “It's unfortunate that the culture of reading physical books is declining due to the internet, with people spending more time on social media platforms and browsing YouTube. This is sad because there's something special about the smell of a physical book—the scent that wafts up from the pages is amazing. We should always try to return to the culture of reading physical books and minimize our time on digital screens, whether they're laptops, tablets, or mobile devices. Digital detoxing is important, and finding a peaceful place with lots of greenery to enjoy a book—regardless of the genre—is really beneficial for our well-being. Nothing can completely replace the experience of reading a book.”

He adds, “It's important to remember that anything technology-dependent can malfunction or disappear. Digital devices are not permanent; they won't last 100 years. In contrast, a physical book can be preserved for generations. A mobile phone used for listening to audiobooks won't last a century, but a hardcover or paperback book can be saved and cherished.”

He says that digital reading can never replace the feeling of a physical book. “I strongly believe that nothing can replace the experience of reading a physical book. While the popularity of digital reading might rise, it can never fully replace physical books. Book lovers will always have a presence in this world. Personally, I've never been a fan of Kindle or digital audiobooks. Reading on a screen doesn't bring me joy. I'm a hardcore lover of paperbacks and hardcovers. I need to feel the pages and physically flip through them—that's what makes me happy. I've never read a book on a digital screen, and I don't think I ever will,” he says.

*Kannappa* actor Arpit Ranka has been a part of the industry for almost 20 years now. He made his Bollywood debut with *Bholaa* and is happy with whatever he has achieved so far. He said, “In my 20-year career, everything I have achieved is significant. It's not like there's anything small. I became Mr. India in 2006, then did some small roles in South Indian films. After that, I played a major role in the TV show *Mahabharat*. Gradually, I have done a lot of shows. After doing all the roles in TV shows, I felt like I had reached a certain step and decided to take a break from TV. Then I was offered a film, and I made my debut in a movie called *Bholaa*. After that, I did a film called *Tavvai*, which is about to be released. It features an anti-hero, meaning a villain who is also the hero. I got this break in *Kannappa*, which is what they call a worldwide break. It's every actor's dream.”

“Launching in such a big film and being mentioned in the teaser is a big deal. I've been getting calls from everywhere, from all my acquaintances. Everyone is very happy that my years of hard work have paid off. That's the greatest happiness,” he added.

He revealed that since 2021, he has incorporated a devotional touch into his work, which has helped him get all these films. “In 2021, I visited Mahakal in Indore. Ten days after that visit, I got a call for the film *Bholaa*. When I visited the office to discuss the film, there was a huge statue of Mahakal. I started shooting for the film, and even during some of the significant scenes, Mahadev’s statue was present. Last year, while in Rajasthan, I decided to visit Mahakal again. That very day, I received a call for a Hindi film, saying, ‘Sir, we’re making a film, and we’d like you to be a part of it.' I did that film, *Tavvai*, which was shot for a month at Ujjain Mahakal. It turned out very well and will be released in two months.”

“While I was shooting in Ujjain, on the last day, I got a call for the film *Kannappa*, which is about a great devotee of Lord Shiva. They wanted to cast me in a lead role alongside Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, and Mohanlal. This strong connection with Mahakal is something I wanted to share. All the movies I've got have a touch of Lord Shiva, and *Kannappa* is a film centered around Lord Shiva. Sometimes what we think and what God plans are different. I feel very lucky and grateful for everything I've received,” he added.

Do you think your physique is a big advantage for roles like these? “Absolutely right, the physique and look matter a lot for a villain because the impact of your personality comes across strongly. If my body wasn't in shape or didn't look the part, I wouldn't be able to create such an impact. I believe that performance is the most important thing. If your acting performance is good, everything else will fall into place. These extra things, like physique, are like icing on the cake, making up about 10–15% of the overall impact. However, if you want to excel, you can't just rely on acting or physique alone,” he said.

“You need to combine everything. My thinking is that people should remember me not just for my body, but also for my performance. That's the most important point for me, and because of that, I am getting such good roles. People recognize me as an actor with a good physique and strong performance, which is the biggest plus point,” he concluded.

Vedika then gets a call from Koel who invites her to meet. Vedika lies to Sagar and goes to see Koel .Koel accuses Vedika of being deceitful, claiming that Vedika’s mother was told to keep the necklace so that Vedika could steal it. +Koel shows Vedika news coverage, accusing her of theft. Vedika denies the accusations, saying she would never steal. Just then, Koel s mother arrives, accusing Vedika of making up stories. Sagar arrives with the police to sort out the situation.

Actor Saanand Verma, who is currently seen in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, says that the popularity of TV shows extends to only a few very famous ones. He adds that otherwise, this popularity can fade sooner than expected. “It depends on the impact. Generally, popularity from television shows is limited and decreases over time. However, there are some iconic shows, like Friends, and actors like Shivaji Satam in CID, whose popularity never decreases. There are a few shows that have a significant impact internationally. In general, for most television shows, the impact is temporary and fades over time,” he says.

When asked if he feels it is difficult to maintain success in the TV industry, he replies, “For actors, if they have acted in very popular television shows, their popularity might decrease eventually. Maintaining success in the TV industry is difficult. It's a tough job to maintain popularity once you achieve it through hard work. Success requires continuous hard work to be sustained. This is the reality of life. In the TV industry, maintaining success involves a lot of struggle, insecurity, unpredictability, and a dynamic environment.”

Regarding his roles, he notes, “Whether as the lead in one show, the second lead in another, or a character actor in a third, the characterization often changes on screen. There's a fixed pattern in TV, with limited chances for experimentation due to censorship and other restrictions. However, on set, the most important thing about a character is the love and connection you feel toward it. This love drives me to go to the set every day.”

He adds that for him, a good atmosphere on the set is all that matters. “I am very serious and dedicated to my work. When shooting, a positive atmosphere and good vibes are essential. If you work together for a long time, you need positive vibes. When you step out of the set, you need to socialize. Screen time might decrease for any actor, but popular and impactful actors maintain audience interest, and their screen time tends to grow,” he says.

He continues, “For example, my character Anokhelal Saxena in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai has made a lasting impression on my mind. It's an extraordinary and unique character, unlike anything seen on television or in movies before. I am very lucky to have played such a mind-blowing character. For me, Anokhelal Saxena is the best character of all time. Any genuine viewer would agree on how great this character is. There is no other dream character for me on television because I have already played the greatest character.”

Actress Vaishali Arora, who plays the role of Ria in Rahul Tewary & Rolling Tales Production’s show Udne Ki Aasha, says that the team has a lot of fun on the set. Since Vaishali is a foodie, she loves bingeing on yummy snacks her teammates bring all day. “I want to share a funny behind-the-scenes moment that has happened multiple times. Ria, as a character, is a foodie. Akash makes yummy food and sends it to her, and she eats it. Every time I'm shooting, the production team asks what I want to eat and keeps it ready. I get so into my character because I’m a foodie myself that even during rehearsals, I end up eating. By the time we do the final take, the food is almost gone, and I have no space left in my stomach. One specific instance was when Akash made a red velvet cake for her. I started eating during rehearsals and had eaten half of it by the final take.

Similarly, with the dosa Sharma episode, I ate so much during rehearsals that I couldn't eat lunch later,” she says. Meanwhile, the monsoons are here, and she’s looking forward to some yummy maggie and tea. “I’m not a big fan of the monsoon, but my favourite thing to do during this season is to sit at home, have chai and Maggi, watch something funny, and laze around on my couch. When working, I keep sipping coffee to stay active and take strolls outside to get fresh air when it stops raining,” she says.

Ask her if her onscreen character had a monsoon playlist, what songs do you think would include, and she says, “There are two songs that perfectly match Ria’s character: Barsore Megha Megha and Zooby Dooby. I can imagine Zooby Dooby playing every time Ria walks in because she’s so cool and fun. These songs would definitely top her playlist.” Monsoon is often associated with romance in Indian television. The actress says that so much of that is awaited on the show. “Yes, the monsoon does create romance. There’s something I want my audience to look forward to in the upcoming episodes. The chemistry between Akash and Ria will really unfold against a very romantic backdrop. Heavy clouds will set the scene for Ria to express her true feelings, and Akash’s reaction will be something to watch. I want my fans to stay tuned to witness this magical moment created by Akash and Ria. I’m eagerly waiting for it!” she says.

I worked with him when he was directing Hamare Tumhare. Since then, we have mutually been very fond of each other. Then I did a small cameo for him too. One more thing about my equation with Rajan sir is that I will always be grateful to him for casting me in Anupamaa. That show brought me everything.

“Grooming is very important, whether in a professional or personal setting. It all depends on your conditioning—how you condition yourself, how your parents are, how your peer group is, and what the circumstances of your life are. So, yes, without grooming, nothing can be achieved. It's very, very important,” he says.

However, he adds that it cannot replace talent and hard work, “I don't think it is very important to look presentable at all times. While it's true that people notice outer appearance first, what's most important is knowing the person in reality. Anybody good at their work, regardless of their appearance or clothing, is what truly matters. The body of work and a person's contribution to society are most important. Carrying the burden of looking presentable all the time is unnecessary. You should be able to relax sometimes, wear whatever you want, go without makeup, and not even style your hair. Just chill, relax, and be simple. When there's an occasion, then taking care of your outer look becomes a bit necessary, but not at all times. The exterior is important, but the interior is most important. Being relaxed and not worrying about your appearance is good for your soul, heart, and mental strength. So, looking presentable at all times should not be necessary,” he says.

However, he says that people do judge us by how we look. “It is true that we judge people by their first look and outfit. It's true, but not good. We shouldn't judge based on clothing. In fact, we shouldn't be judgmental at all. We should just go with the flow, talk about good things, and focus on the positive aspects of people. Rohit Purohit, who is seen as Armaan in Rajan Shahi’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, which is produced under his banner, Director’s Kut Productions, loves monsoon and is enjoying creating romantic scenes on-screen with his co-star. He believes in keeping it natural and organically reacts to the moment.

He said, “Creating that monsoon magic on screen is all about capturing the essence of romance and spontaneity. My co-stars and I focus on being present in the moment and reacting naturally to the rain and the environment.”

Actress Rinku Ghosh, who is currently seen in show Anokha Bandhan, says that one should be very confident of how one is. She adds that she knows herself so well, and that ensures that people close to her also know what she will like and what she won’t.

“I am sensitive, fun loving, a little bit strict, perfectionist, practical. It is easy for me to describe myself. I think I know myself pretty well. That is very important. Only if you know yourself well, your friends and family will also be sure of what you want and what you don’t like,” she says.

She adds, “We behave differently with different people, at least I do. I don’t open up in front of everyone and anyone, it takes time for me. I need to first be sure of who I am interacting with, and then see how much I want to reveal.”

However, she adds that she doesn’t seek validation or praise from people. “I actually don’t need validation from someone else, most of the time. It really doesn’t affect my life in any way. It’s a positive step: Celebrities on the new criminal law of the death penalty for child rape perpetrators

India’s new criminal law states that convicts of rape against minors will now face the death penalty. The new law came into effect on July 1. Celebrities are in full support of it and have called it a much-needed step.

Here’s what they had to say:

Seema Kapoor:
Rape, murder, and acid attacks should be dealt with with the instant death penalty, as they all should be accounted for as gory crimes. Rape cases, even for adults, should be punished on par with those of minors. This law should be executed severely, either with the prompt death penalty or with castration leading to the perpetrator's death. Only strict measures like these can halt such crimes; otherwise, they will keep increasing year after year and far more brutally. These court cases also should be given to fast-track courts so that timely justice is provided to the victim or their family. Justice delayed is justice denied. Also, male rape should be considered in the same spot.

Gulfam Khan Hussain:
In my view, paedophilia is an intolerable and disgusting trait, and child rape is the lowest grade of crime. Atrocities against helpless children should be met with the utmost severity anyway, and a sexual crime against a helpless child? That should have zero tolerance. I just hope innocents are not targeted through this. As we see with the law time and again, people are taking undue advantage of the law and using it as a tool for personal vendetta. As long as we do a thorough investigation and the correct criminal meets their just end, I am all for stricter laws. Whether or not it will stop the crime is difficult to say, but it will definitely put fear in perpetrators minds, and there will be a decrease in the number of cases.

Karan Gulianii:
I think it's a much-needed decision made by the government and the court of law. In our country, especially, only about 5–10% of child abuse cases are reported, while 90% go unreported. When a child is abused, it affects them for their entire life, not just in that moment. Their confidence is shattered, and they are scarred for life. I believe that there should be the harshest punishment for such crimes. Our courts and government should propose even stricter penalties for child abusers. While I understand that not everyone might agree with this approach, I feel strongly that we need to start somewhere. This decision is a positive step, and I fully support it.

Radhika Vidyasagar:
I am so glad that finally this has happened. Anything against women and children, any crime, should be punished. And the trial should be held because justice should always prevail. There should be no loopholes left in our judiciary system. But still, I'm so glad that this thing has been announced. And yes, the death penalty. Rape has to have a death penalty. There is no excuse for rape. There is no excuse for crimes against women or children. So I'm really glad, and I'm so happy that this decision has been made finally, after so much injustice happening towards women and children all over the world and India, in rape cases. So I'm really glad that sentence—the death sentence—should be the punishment. Otherwise, such crimes will not, you know, be stopped.

Pravina Deshpande:
Imposing the death penalty on child rape perpetrators is a welcome and strong stance against such horrendous crimes in the recent amendment to India's criminal law. This was long-awaited. I also welcome the digital revolution in these laws, which will make investigations easy. A welcome change will indeed be a major deterrent to the heinous crime, giving the victim’s family some relief and decent closure.

Rinku Ghosh:
It’s a step forward. This was required. I would have been happier if there had been the death penalty in every rape case, irrespective of gender or age, rich or poor.

Nitin Bhajan:
The biggest immediate change that comes from such harsh punishments is the strong message that resonates in people's minds: we will not tolerate heinous crimes like this, and those found guilty will face similar consequences. This decision has set a precedent and gives hope to victims' families that they will get justice and satisfaction. Our laws should be strong enough to deter people from committing such crimes in the first place. I believe the death penalty is the ultimate solution to prevent heinous crimes like gang rape. It sends a strong message to society, giving confidence to the victims' families and the public that justice will be served. However, the implementation and enforcement of this punishment are crucial. We need fast-track courts, tamper-free evidence, and an efficient legal system to ensure that the law is upheld. Only then can we see a significant reduction in crime rates.
