Going Bare-Faced for Art: Meera Chopra Embraces Rawness in 'Safed'
In 'Safed,' Chopra's character finds solace in an unlikely relationship with an eunuch, both ostracized by society.
Meera Chopra, known for her roles in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films, is stepping outside her comfort zone for her upcoming movie, 'Safed'. Playing a widow in the film, Chopra tackles the challenges of portraying her character without the usual tools of the trade: makeup and hairstyling.
In 'Safed,' Chopra's character finds solace in an unlikely relationship with an eunuch, both ostracized by society. She candidly admits the difficulty of facing the camera bare-faced: "Without hair styling and makeup, we become conscious about our looks in front of the camera."
But Chopra embraced the challenge, letting go of vanity to fully embody her character: "When I started shooting, I tried to put a base on my face, but my director, Sandeep, sent me back to wash it off. It was refreshing for me to be like that. I used to just get up, wash my face and go for the shoot. It enabled me to play Kaali in an easier, natural way."
