Jay Shah will be the fifth Indian to be an ICC President
Cricket fraternity congratulates Jay Shah on being elected ICC chairman. Jay Shah has become the fifth Indian to become ICC president. Before him, Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar are the Indians who have led the ICC in the past.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has received congratulations from across the cricketing fraternity on being elected as the next chairman of the ICC. India team head coach Gautam Gambhir, BCCI president Roger Binny and all-rounder Hardik Pandya are among those who congratulated Shah on being unanimously elected as the president of the world cricket body.
The BCCI writes: "Congratulations Jay bhai on becoming the youngest ICC president," Hardik Pandya writes. "I look forward to watching you take cricket to new heights."
BCCI president Binny wrote: "Congratulations to Jay Shah on his appointment as ICC President. As Honorary Secretary of BCCI and President of Asian Cricket Council, he has been a strong supporter," Former Indian captain and head coach Anil Kumble wrote: "Jay Shah's appointment as ICC President marks a new chapter for world cricket. Congratulations and best wishes," and BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla wrote: "I wish Jay Shah success in his new role." His aim was to take cricket to a wider audience and take it to new heights.
Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh also praised Shah's appointment. He writes: "Congratulations to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah on his undisputed appointment as ICC Chairman. I am sure your experience of handling Indian cricket will be a boon for the ICC. Your leadership will take world cricket to new heights." I wish you all the best.
