In the 69th National Film Awards ceremony held at Delhi's Vigyan Bhavan, Alia Bhatt garnered attention for donning a saree she had worn at her wedding. The event, which took place on October 17 this year, awarded Alia Bhatt and Kriti Senan jointly as the 'Best Actress.' This marked their first National Awards.
Every year, the Indian government honors actors who have achieved notable success in the fields of film and arts. During this award function, Alia chose to wear a beautiful off-white saree designed by Sabyasachi for her wedding. Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, praised Alia's choice during the promotion of the film "The Archies." Suhana stated, "Alia wore her wedding saree again at the National Awards, and I think the message she conveyed as an artist on such a big stage was very valuable and important."
Suhana continued, "If Alia Bhatt can re-wear her wedding saree, then we can certainly re-wear party dresses. There's no need to buy new clothes and designer dresses every time. A lot of resources are wasted in making new clothes, and environmentally, it's detrimental. Therefore, Alia's act was very significant."
Suhana's words highlight the importance of sustainable fashion choices and the environmental impact of constantly buying new clothes. Alia's decision to re-wear her wedding attire on a prestigious national platform resonated positively, setting an example for conscious and responsible fashion.
