The returning of Lord Ganesha teaches us about cosmic balance. In Hindu philosophy, creation (Shrishti) and dissolution (Pralaya) are two sides of the same coin. Just as energy cannot be destroyed, only transformed the formless divine energy that entered our homes returns to the infinite universe.

Because of this intense, non-stop mental and physical work, Ganesha's body temperature became dangerously high. To cool him down, Sage Ved Vyas coated his body with a special mud and immersed him in water on the tenth day to refresh him. The legends established the tradition of using clay idols and concluding the worship with the water immersion.
